Work With Us

Country Of Origin Experts

Communitology works with independent country of origin experts who provide rigorous, evidence-based analysis for immigration, asylum, and related legal proceedings. Their role is to provide impartial analysis grounded in their expertise. Our experts contribute social, political, legal, and administrative context that assists courts and tribunals in evaluating claims.

Who We Work With

Communitology’s country of origin experts are primarily drawn from the social sciences and closely related professional fields. Our network includes PhD-level researchers, academics, human rights practitioners, investigative journalists, linguists, and regionally focused professionals whose work involves sustained engagement with specific countries, institutions, or populations.

Many experts have conducted long-term fieldwork, published peer-reviewed research, produced authoritative reporting, or worked in applied roles with international organizations, courts, or human rights bodies. Their expertise is grounded in social science methods, documentary research, and direct knowledge of political, legal, and administrative systems.

Prior experience writing for courts is helpful but not required. Many experts are trained through Communitology to translate existing expertise into formats suitable for adjudicative review.

We look for experts who can work to defined scopes and deadlines, who are clear about the limits of their knowledge, and who are comfortable explaining uncertainty where it exists.

What This Work Involves

Country of origin experts may be asked to prepare written reports or affidavits, respond to defined questions set out in a Letter of Instruction, and, in some cases, provide oral testimony. All work is case-specific and framed by the procedural posture of the matter.

Assignments are based on clearly defined scope. Experts analyze country conditions, administrative practice, and contextual plausibility using appropriate sources and methodologies. Where evidence is limited or uncertain, experts are expected to explain those limits transparently.

Communitology provides structured workflows, editorial guidance, and procedural support so that experts can adapt their research expertise to legal contexts while preserving independence and professional judgment.

All expert engagements with Communitology are governed by written agreements and compensated on a per-case basis. Specific terms, scope, and fees are discussed only after initial screening and mutual interest are established.

Independence and Limits

Experts work independently and retain responsibility for their opinions.Experts are not advocates and are not expected to support a particular legal outcome.Communitology does not direct substantive conclusions and does not guarantee how courts or agencies will assess expert evidence.
